Living From a Healthy Soul

By Rick & Crystie

There is a kind of strength that does not come from striving, performing, or carrying more than God asked us to carry. It comes from a soul that is anchored in Christ.

In a world that constantly pulls for our attention, it is easy to measure spiritual health by activity. We can be busy serving, leading, attending, helping, planning, and still forget to sit at the feet of Jesus. But true spiritual health begins in the quiet place where our hearts are restored by His presence.

Jesus said:

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
— Matthew 11:28, NKJV

This invitation is not only for the weary sinner; it is also for the weary servant. It is for leaders, families, intercessors, worshipers, workers, and everyone who has been pouring out. Before we can lead well, love well, or serve well, we must learn to receive from the Lord.

Balanced living is not about doing less for God. It is about doing what He asked, from a heart that remains connected to Him. When we live out of balance, even good things can become heavy. Ministry can become pressure. Responsibility can become burden. Service can become performance.

But when we return to the table of the Lord, He reminds us who we are.

We are sons and daughters before we are servants.
We are loved before we are useful.
We are called to abide before we are called to produce.

Leadership in the Kingdom is not driven by ambition. It is shaped by surrender. A healthy leader is not someone who never gets tired, but someone who knows where to go for renewal. A healthy believer is not someone who has everything figured out, but someone who keeps returning to Jesus.

This month, we encourage you to pause and ask the Lord:

Lord, is there any area of my life where I have been carrying what You never asked me to carry?

Let Him restore your rhythm. Let Him bring order to your priorities. Let Him remind you that spiritual strength flows from intimacy with Him.

As a church family, we want to grow strong, but not in our own strength. We want to lead, serve, give, and build from a place of spiritual health. We believe the Lord is forming a people who are rooted, steady, and fruitful.

Not rushed.
Not burned out.
Not performing.
But abiding.

May our homes be filled with peace.
May our leadership be marked by humility.
May our service flow from love.
And may our lives reflect the balance, wisdom, and rest found only in Christ.

Reflection for the Week

Where do I need to slow down, return to Jesus, and receive His rest?

Prayer

Father, teach us to live from a healthy soul. Help us recognize when we are carrying burdens You did not place on us. Restore peace, order, and balance in our lives. Teach us to lead from humility, serve from love, and abide in Your presence daily. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Closing Thought

Healthy people build healthy homes. Healthy homes strengthen the church. And a healthy church becomes a light to the world.
